Nepal Telecom (NTC) has officially launched VoWiFi (Voice over Wi-Fi or WiFi calling) service in Nepal. VoWiFi is a technology that allows users to make voice calls using a Wi-Fi connection rather of a cellular network with HD voice service.
VoWiFi relies on a stable internet connection through Wi-Fi. When you initiate a call, your voice is transmitted as data over this connection. It seamlessly integrates with the cellular network, so if the Wi-Fi connection drops, the call can switch back to the cellular network without interruption. When you activate the VoWiFi in your smartphone, you will see VoWiFi icon on the notification bar.
How to activate VoWiFi in NTC?
To activate the VoWiFi, you require carrier support and compatibility smartphone. Activating VoWiFi can vary depending on your carrier and smartphone, but here are general steps for both Android and iOS devices:
For Android Devices:
- Check Carrier Support: Ensure your mobile carrier supports VoWiFi.
- Access Settings: Go to your device’s Settings.
- Network & Internet: Tap on Network & Internet or Connections.
- Mobile Network: Select Mobile Network.
- Advanced: Tap on Advanced settings.
- Wi-Fi Calling: Look for Wi-Fi Calling and toggle it on.
- Enable: You may also have options like Prefer Wi-Fi for calls. Enable as needed.
